These are the rules for using Finance and Quant Society (FQS). We kept them short and in plain English on purpose. By making an account or using the site, you agree to what is below. If you do not agree, please do not use FQS. Questions go to financeandquantsociety@gmail.com.
FQS is for students who are at least 13. If you are under 18, use it with your parent or guardian's okay. Sign up with accurate information, keep one account per person, and keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for whatever happens on your account, so pick a strong password and do not share it.
FQS is a learning community, so treat people the way you would want to be treated. That means:
Pick a username that is appropriate for a student community. Names that are offensive, harassing, hateful, impersonate someone else, or otherwise break the rules are not allowed. If your username breaks the rules, we may remove it from the public leaderboard while you keep all of your points and progress. Update your username in Settings and it can be restored to the leaderboard.
Some parts of FQS let you add your own content, like a bio, a strategy you build, or a competition entry. You keep ownership of what you make, but you give us permission to store and show it as part of running the site. You are responsible for what you post, so only post things you have the right to share, and keep it appropriate for a student community.
The lessons, materials, data, and everything else we make are here for you to learn from. Please do not copy, republish, resell, or redistribute FQS content outside the platform without our permission.
Everything on FQS is for education only and none of it is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Please read the full Disclaimer, which is part of these terms.
Points, streaks, badges, and Trading Floor scores are for learning and fun. They have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold, or transferred. To keep things fair we may adjust, correct, or reset them, for example after a bug or if someone is cheating. For competitions, we do our best to run them fairly and our decisions on results are final.
FQS links to outside sites and loads a few third-party tools, like live charts and market data. Those come with their own terms and we do not control them, so we are not responsible for their content or how they work.
FQS is a free project run by students. We may add, change, pause, or remove features, and we cannot promise the site will always be available or error free. It is provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the site, including anything related to the market data or educational content.
FQS is a fiscally sponsored project of The Hack Foundation (also known as Hack Club), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 81-2908499. That means we operate under their nonprofit status. Using the site is free and always will be. If you choose to support us, donations are made through our fiscal sponsor and are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent the law allows. Donations are voluntary, they do not buy any special access, features, or advantage on the site, and they are not refundable except where the law requires it. We are not tax advisors, so please check with your own about deducting a gift.
If an account breaks these rules, we may warn it, limit it, remove it from the leaderboard, or ban it. You can close your own account anytime by reaching out to us.
We may update these terms as FQS grows. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
